The memory wall - a practice in letting go.

This street art installation in Shoreditch is a quick snapshot of personal history, diving into how physical memories fade and change over time, and how we quietly accept that transformation.

Created by Irem, the founder of Mikk Studio, The Memory Wall was all about letting go. The installation invited people to connect with something deeply personal but also universal—letting go of physical memories while embracing their presence in a different, intangible way.

Over the month, the artwork interacted with its surroundings, enduring weather, foot traffic, and the city’s unpredictable vibe. As the layers faded, shifted, and changed, it became a reflection of time itself—constantly evolving thanks to its environment.

Even though the piece was temporary, the memories stuck around. The Memory Wall shows that what we let go of isn’t really gone; it just takes on a new form.
